A type of misleading advertising I have fallen victim to is when a product claims to have a certain feature but in reality it does not. I personally love buying things for my dog; I once bought a cooling mat for her to cool her down during the summers since she has quite a thick coat, the mat turned out to not be cool at all. I felt very disappointed by the company and decided not to buy from that company again. 

People can discourage the misuse of marketing when they encounter it by informing others of the product and how it is not a product worth buying. Companies use misleading advertising because they know that people will buy it. By buying their products it will only further fuel them and more companies to use misleading advertisements. So when one encounters misuse of marketing it is best to inform other potential consumers of it.
